We happily invite you to our grand opening on Saturday the 11th of May. We are working on the first Glaravans since March. Glaravans are modern caravans in a vintage shell. The origin from Glaravans comes from the combination of caravans and glamping. . Glamping is a portmanteau of glamorous and camping and describes a style of camping with amenities and, in some cases, resort-style services not usually associated with “traditional” camping.
Our company strips down old caravans and renovates them into modern travel palaces on wheels, including the latest technology available. This means you can go camping anytime, anywhere! Glaravans are built by our own vision but also to those of our customer, which can be the user or a company. Starting from June 2019, we also have a Glaravan for rent. On the 11th of May, we present our first Glaravans to the public and is our workshop open for curios eyes.
On display will be our ‘Pilot Project #0’, a Belgian Constructam Caravan from 1979, ‘Glaravan #1’, a SMV caravan from 1981 and ‘Glaravan #2’, an unique Knaus caravan from 1979. There will be future Glaravans too. The first concepts for our Glaravans will be revealed soon. Keep an eye on our facebook and instagram page for the latest updates!
Glaravans is founded in January 2019 by Erik Baas. As camper, he saw mainly same-looking Caravans without any charm. His passion for old and styleful objects brought him the idea of Glaravans. The unique more cool-looking vintage caravans had so much potential when refurbished from the inside. He bought a Belgium Constructam from 1979 and started renovating the caravan as trial. Inspired by many enthausiasts he created the concept Glaravan #0. The idea of re-using something old and cool is apart from beeing good for our environment, also a way to make vintage modern again.
You are welcome to visit us on Saturday 11th of May from 10:00 to 16:00 at the Pakhuisstraat 8 in Hengelo, Netherlands. If you are unable to come but like to visit us anytime soon, you are welcome on our regular openingtimes.
