Old caravans are often beautiful to look at, but they also have many insecurities and/or defects that you cannot see. That is why we at Glaravans combine the restoration and modernisation of caravans. The certainty of a new caravan in a vintage shell, while retaining its charm! Want to know how we do it?
Driving safely to your holiday destination without having to worry about your caravan. At Glaravans, we therefore largely renew the caravan chassis to optimise driving safety. This means that we renovate the old chassis and tackle the weak points.
We fit new axles, brakes and a clutch so that driving safety is ensured with modern technology. This has two major advantages. Namely, the handling of the caravan is often improved and there are no more problems with obtaining spare parts for the caravan.
Most classic caravans have a wooden construction, other a Polyester construction, but some brands, such as Constructam & Eriba, have (partly) a steel cage. Luckily we are familiar with all these types of caravans.
In all cases we can get the construction back in mint condition to send the caravan on the road again for years to come. We do this by welding, working with polyester or processing new aluminium sheets.
In contrast to what many people think, old caravans are often very lightweight. The average weight of a single axle caravan is between 600 & 1100kg. For a classic tandem axle, the maximum weight is close to 1800kg. So our caravans are relatively easy to tow by most cars! That is very convenient.
The weight is always an additional challenge for us, as the weight on paper remains the same for all our caravans.
Our interiors are completely handmade, with a mix of old and new techniques. We only use the most lightweight and strong materials to keep the weight of the caravan within limits.
In the case of reusing old cabinets, we adapt them to hide new technology such as cables and apply new hinges. The complete interior is screwed into the wooden or steel structure. This way we ensure a strong and solid caravan for you.
Electricity, gas and water
Two of the most dangerous things in an old caravan are the gas pipes and the electricity network. Over the years a caravan has had many owners. A common sight is that different people have practiced their hobby without knowledge, resulting in dangerous situations.
At Glaravans we install a completely new electricity, gas and water network in line with today's regulations. Safety comes first!
Since we build our caravans from start to finish, we can easily add luxury accessories. Finally, a fridge that can keep your beer or bottle of wine nice and cool. Easily connect the BBQ to the caravan without having to carry gas bottles, or control your caravan's climate-control easily via your mobile phone.
We love unique and creative ideas, don't hesitate to tell us yours!
We build our bathrooms entirely of polyester. This means that the bathroom can become a wet room. So you have no worries about leaks and the floor of the caravan remains in perfect condition. It's nice to be carefree!
Luxurious seating and matress
When you go on holiday you want at least the same luxury as home. That is why we collaborate with Twenteland Matrassen for comfortable seat cushions & mattresses. In our showroom you can choose high quality fabrics for the upholstery and of course you can test the seats & mattresses.
We often reuse 40% to 60% of the original caravan. The parts that are still usable, but we don't use ourselves, often go to enthusiasts. The rest is carefully recycled so the waste is kept to a minimum. This makes the Glaravan a sustainable choice!
After the delivery of the Glaravan we offer you a 3-year warranty. This applies to both the waterproofing and the interior. The guarantee for chosen accessories, such as a fridge, runs via the relevant manufacturer.
